Fire department shows up
Yesterday while fooling around on my laptop, Sabriena pointed out that there were fire fighters in our driveway. I went outside to find out what was going on, and they asked if we had a fire going in the backyard. “I hope not!” was about all I could blurt out, as my mind immediately raced to the thought of my van doing a repeat of what had happened to Dad’s van on NYE. It turned out, by the way, that the inspector found it wasn’t arson, but actually a common thing with ambulance conversions, and the inspector relayed a story of a Melbourne ambulance that was burning on the side of the road, while the paramedics and a patient on a stretcher waited helplessly for another ambulance to arrive!
Anyway, it turned out the fire wasn’t in our backyard, and my heart beat quickly returned to normal. The neighbours had a fire pit that was particularly smoky - I’m not sure if that’s allowed in city limits or not, and frankly I don’t really care.
