Fishing!
A few days ago, Duncan entered a colouring competition as part of Horsham’s fishing contest, and ended up winning one of four fishing rods as a prize. This put Sabriena and I in the awkward position of having to take him fishing, despite not really knowing how to do it.
This afternoon, we went out to the river to have a crack at it. We weren’t sure he was going to like it (by the time we were ready to go it was interrupting his TV time so he wasn’t really enthusiastic), so we used corn kernels for bait instead of buying some. I wasn’t sure if I, as an accompanying adult, needed a fishing license (under 18s don’t need one in Victoria), but they’re only $24 for a yearly one so I bought one anyway, just in case.
He got a couple of nibbles, and we ended up staying out in excess of an hour. I think he had a good time too.
I just wish we knew someone who knew how to fish, because I have no idea what I’m doing.
