Laser Tag!
Another company-sponsored event - this time I wasn’t on duty, so no laptop. Laser tag!
Another shopping mall, this time we took the metro underground and then approximately six escalators. I did substantially better at lasertag than I did in go-karting - coming in second over all, second only to Tom, our billing guy who absolutely shat on everyone else, including me. I think he out-scored the bottom 10 or 12 people by himself!
The only downside to it? I got super sweaty, I only had about 5 hours sleep the night before, and I had to go back for the night shift about 4 hours after we stopped playing. So it was quickly back to the hotel for a shower and then a weak attempt at sleep, which basically consisted of three and a half hours of tossing and turning before saying “fuck it” and going back into the office.
So a 10-hour night shift on very little sleep, having been awake the entire day, absolutely sucked. There were times I thought I’d fall asleep at the desk. Two hacked Wordpress sites kept me awake, which was also a pretty good opportunity to work on documenting my process for triaging them (which is a whole lot more effective now than when I was hired, as I learn more about modern Wordpress).
Jon and I finished out our shift at about 4:30, and zombie-walked back to the hotel for a few hours sleep. I woke up at about 10, and skipped the planned “escape room” outing.
