Super Smash Bros
A few months back, Nintendo announced a forthcoming Super Smash Bros title for the Switch and I instantly headed down to preorder it. Nostalgia? Nay, I haven’t actually played any of the Smash Bros games for any length of time! I skipped everything from the N64 onwards, getting a Wii well and truly after it was relevant, and still haven’t bought a WiiU. So why the (possibly foolish) preorder?
I enjoy fighting games, though I’m mostly terrible at them. Smash has a reputation for being a pretty long-term E-sport, and I’m excited to be in on the ground floor for one of the releases. Unfortunately, the fact that I’ve no idea what I’m doing means I need to put myself on a crash course. I lack a Gamecube (not for the lack of trying, but I can’t find one anywhere for as cheap as I’d like), so it was off to play Brawl to at least get some familiarity with the game.
Duncan and I have been playing it off and on for about a week now, and I’m actually starting to learn a bit. I’ve been maining Samus (both forms), and I think I’m pretty set on zero suit Samus unless they change the way it plays a lot. I’ve put the bots up to “Hardy” difficulty now and can win a reasonable amount against them… though I recognize that that probably still puts me firmly in the trash tier, I think I’ve accomplished what I set out to do: not be a complete neophyte when the game releases. That leaves me with about 6 months of bonus catch up!
In to EB yesterday to have a look around, and came out with our twelth or possibly thirteenth copy of Minecraft… for the Switch this time. They released the cross-play update for it, and it performs as advertised which will save my battery life when Duncan goes to visit his cousins!
